Kevin's musical interest was first sparked at the age of nine when he had his first music lesson. Only two years later, he gave his first public performance to the members of an Electronic Organ Club
Within a year, Kevin was taking exams for Electronic Organ and Theory of Music and by the age of thirteen, he had extended his interests to include piano lessons, subsequently taking further exams.
At the age of fifteen, he gave his first professional concert on the electronic organ. A year later in June 1984, he gave his first lesson teaching people to play.
In September of the same year Kevin undertook a three year course at Barking College studying O' and A' Levels in Music. By the time he left college, Kevin had also achieved a Diploma in Electronic Organ from the Victoria College of Music, Grade 8 in Electronic Organ from the London College of Music, Grade 8 in Theory of Music and Grade 6 in Piano from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)
In 1986/87, Kevin did two recording contracts with BBC Radio Two for a programme called The Organist Entertains. On the 6th March 1987 during the broadcast of one of these sessions, the programme was interrupted to bring a newsflash reporting on the Zeebrugge Ferry disaster. In September of the same year, Kevin began teaching for the Yamaha Music School giving group lessons on electronic organ at Freedman's Music Store, Leytonstone. These lessons lasted for two years, ending when the store closed down. During this time, Kevin had also started to build up a heavy schedule of private lessons and solo gigs.
In the early 1990's, Kevin started to branch out working in duos and in a group but it was in 1994 that his career took a change. Already teaching, giving lessons at Marshalls Park School in the evenings, he met another Kevin (Kevin Isaac ) and a duo called Just For You took off. He worked with this duo for twelve years before it sadly had to come to an end due to Kevin Isaac moving away from the area.
It was to change the direction of his career for good!! Up to this point, Kevin had never sung, but as a result of the duo, working with other bands and building up the confidence to do so, he can now be heard singing lead and backing vocals as required. In 2008, Kevin also formed a new trio with Judy Lenihan and Ty Pereira called Timeless who can be seen performing in various venues in Essex and Hertfordshire. Details of the bands Kevin has worked with past and present can be found in the PERFORMANCE section.
Currently, Kevin divides his time between teaching at St Mary's Primary School, Shenfield, maintaining private lessons for his clients in Essex and Hampshire, and more recently, providing Keyboard/Piano Lessons at the Gosport Discovery Centre. More information about these lessons can be found in the TUITION section.
